A New State Agency is Set to Oversee Early Learning and School-Aged Childcare in Ireland
Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, Roderic O’Gorman, has today published an independent Review of Early Learning and Care and School Age Childcare Operating Model in Ireland undertaken by Indecon Economic Consultants.
The Review concluded that a dedicated State Agency is the optimal operating model for ELC and SAC in Ireland.
This new agency will be responsible for functions currently undertaken by Pobal, Better Start and the City and County Childcare Committees, as well as the operational functions carried out by the department. The creation of the agency is accepted by the Government.
